YORK, PA - In drag racing terminology, the ground pounders are coming to York for the Twelfth Annual Musclecar Madness at the York Reunion to be held at the York Fairgrounds, York Expo Center on July 12-13th.
The giants of the sport made the ground shake and the vibrations of excitement from the fans. Top Fuel and Top Gas dragsters will be on display along with some of the legends who drove them to ultimate success of winning the NHRA US Nationals or other national events that put the car and driver on the marquee of fame.
D.A. Santucci's famous bubble gum car will be on display with wife Barbara Santucci being reunited with the late D.A.s original car that won the 1969 NHRA US Nationals along with Top Fuel dragsters of Jerry Baltes and the Special Edition Top Fuel dragster of Jim Walther. Jim will be reunited at York with the car that carried him to many drag racing titles back in the 60s.
The show will feature Comp coupes and injected dragsters among the group of door slammers that compose the Pro Stock through Jr. Stock eliminator categories. The York show is the annual reunion for just about every top name drag race star in the country, all who competed at the track that put their name up in lights.
The who's who of legends who will be attending will include not only Jim Walther, but Bud Faubel, former World Champs Ed Miller, and Bruce Larson, Arlen Fadely, Bunny Burkett, Phil Bonner, Hubert Platt, Al Joniec, former World Champs Jere Stahl and George Cureton, along with legendary race cars of Dave Strickler, Bill Grumpy Jenkins, Sox & Martin and a host of legends and cars.
The show features a Salute to Ford and special tours to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing both days. Schedules are posted in the lobby.
Admission to the show is $15, children 12 and under are free. All active military are free with i.d.
Show hours are Friday, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
The show is the first leg of a great nostalgia weekend with the 10th Annual York Nostalgia Nationals completing the weekend at Beaver Springs Dragway on Sunday, July 14th with activities beginning at 8 a.m.
