NAPANEE, ONTARIO (November 7, 2011) Jamie Bridge has always been an innovator when it comes to his racing, and this helped pay off for the Napanee racer this year, placing second in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts Championship Point Award Series Standings.
"We had an incredibly good year," noted the Top Dragster driver of the Lynja Motorsports Team. "The car has been so good this year."
Along with his success in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, Bridge has been successful in both NHRA and IHRA divisional competition.
Bridge qualified his dragster for all of the six Quick 32 Sportsman Series events in 2011. He won the Top Dragster side of the eliminations in the first event and the last event, both held at the Cayuga Dragway. In the first race, he lost the event final to Top Sportsman driver and 2011 Champion Phil Sampson of Granton, Ontario, and was eliminated in the event final in the last race of the year by another Top Sportsman entry, Tom Orr of Shawville, Quebec.
Bridge went to the Top Dragster semi-final in two other events, and was taken out in first-round action in two other races. Bridge, who placed ninth in the series in 2010, runs with consistency in the high six-second range with speeds between 185 and 190 mph.
With an out-of-the-box approach to his racing, Bridge has worked at building a better race car by unorthodox means with regards to such items as fuel and delay box systems, and it has paid off.
"I've been working on some stuff for three to four years," he said. "Some of it is pretty radical stuff and it has taken a lot of time to come around."
Sitting between the frame rails of the 2008 Undercover dragster chassis is a nitrous-assisted 565 cubic-inch ERD (Engine Research & Development) engine with an Abruzzi Racing Powerglide coupled to it.
Along with Bridge, the team consists of his wife Lynda who performs all the duties at the track aside from the actual driving.
Sponsoring comes from NAPA Auto Parts / Universal Supply Group, Lynja Injection Services, Centre Street Auto Sales, Abruzzi Racing Transmissions and Torque Converters.
"Along with our sponsors, I also want to thank Terry and Carl at ERD for their help this year," said Bridge. "And I want to thank Mickey Thompson Tires. They have been a big part of this combination."
The Annual "Night of Champions" Championship Point Award Series Banquet for the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), the Quick 32 Sportsman Series and the Pro Bike & Sled Series (PBSS) will be held at the Burlington Hotel & Conference Centre in Burlington, Ontario on Saturday, November 19, 2011.
