IHRA Summit Team Finals Season Kicks Off This Weekend

Best bracket racers in the nation get ready to do battle for team, individual championships

NORWALK, Ohio (August 16, 2013) – It is that time of year again as the best bracket racers in the world do battle at racetracks across the nation in the International Hot Rod Association’s thrilling Summit Racing Equipment Team Finals presented by AMSOIL.

The Summit Team Finals allows IHRA member tracks to send teams made up of their best drivers from the 2013 racing season to race for team and individual championships at their local Team Finals event. Also at IHRA Team Finals events, the top racers from each track’s Summit SuperSeries program in Top, Mod and Junior Dragster will runoff for the right to go to Memphis International Raceway to compete at the Summit World Finals in October.

“By far this is the best time of the year for the more than 100 IHRA tracks across the globe. This is the one time of year all of the tracks can come together and compete for points, prizes and bragging rights for the next year, not to mention the opportunity to send one of their own to the World Finals to compete for a world championship,” said Sherrie Barbour, IHRA Director of Special Programs. “This year will be one of our biggest Team Finals lineups in history and we are looking forward to five outstanding weekends of racing from the Carolinas up to Edmonton.”

With so much at on the line at each Summit Team Finals weekend, the racing is among the best you will see all year as regional tracks compete for the title of Summit Team Finals champion.

The Summit Team Finals season officially kicks off this weekend with the Division 6 Team Finals at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta.

Two more Summit Team Finals events will take place the weekend September 18-22 with the Division 2 East Team Finals at Carolina Dragway and the Division 3 Team Finals at Pittsburgh Raceway Park. The month will close with two more September 26-29 at Dallas Raceway in Division 4 and Piedmont Dragway in Division 9.
