Hila Sweet notified me that the California Racers Reunion (CRR) has been cancelled by the Riverside International Automotive Museum (RIAM). The event had been scheduled for April 13, 2013. I contacted Norma Jordan, the events coordinator at the museum and she confirmed the cancellation and said that it will not be rescheduled. Norma has left her position at the RIAM at this time. Hila is trying to contact those who have said they were coming to let them know. There has been no decision made as to whether another CRR will be held, but if I hear any news I will let you know.
The Santa Ana Airport Drag Races and Main Street Malt Shop Reunion is still on for April 13, 2013 at Santiago Creek Park on Lawson Way, just off East Memory Lane in the city of Orange (the park borders Santa Ana). The time will be from 10 AM until 2 PM and will be catered by Gene Mitchell. There is no cost to come, for the food, event or to park; it is all free. There is a nice playground for children on the site and the park is shaded and green at this time of year. Bring your cameras, photo albums and video cams and meet some of the original drag racers from the very beginning of the sport. For details see www.landspeedracing.com.
