The Champion is back for 2010 Pro Modified Racing Association season

Bruce Boland to drive new Corvette Pro Modified in upcoming PMRA Tour

HAMILTON, ONTARIO (May 3, 2010) – The car may have a different body, but underneath the new 1963 Corvette Sting Ray shell and chassis the B&B Racing entry is pretty much as it was for 2009.

And that suits Bruce Boland just fine, as the Hamilton, Ontario-based driver won the Pro Modified Racing Association’s Championship Point Award Series in 2009.

“All the engine and drivetrain are pretty well the same stuff as last year,” said Boland, who won four of the six PMRA tour events last year. “The combination is basically the same, but we should have about 200 more horsepower, and the car will weigh about 200 pounds less.”

Last year’s PMRA title was Boland’s third in row, and each time he has driven to victory in a different Pro Modified. He and his 1953 Corvette won the 2007 title, and another 1963 Corvette won in 2008, and for 2009 he drove a 1967 Chevy Nova-bodied Pro Modified.

Boland’s new ride is a bright yellow Tim McAmis Race Cars unit, powered by an ERD (Engine Research & Development) 526-cubic inch Brad Anderson (BAE) Supercharged Hemi engine with a PSI Superchargers Screw Blower supercharger on top. A Lenco three-speed sits behind the powerplant.

Boland said he is hoping for some quick times with the new car.

“If this car leaves the line like we hope, it will run in the 5.90s.”

Boland was also appreciative of the work of race car fabricator Ton Bene, a Top Sportsman racer who mounted the new Corvette body on the car’s chassis and did all related body panel work.

Crew chief for the B&B entry is Rob Cesario, and other team members include Rob Cesario, Brad Short, Dennis Veillette and Mark Dochstader.
The team is sponsored by Backwoods Excavating & Float Service, Excel Motorsports, Pro Racing Fuels, NGK Spark Plugs, A&A Auto Parts, and Double D Construction.

Boland said he will be working hard this season to defend his title.

“Everyone will be gunning for me,” he said. “I’m going to have to step up my game plan.”
But he also said whatever happens, he will be out on the track enjoying himself.

“We’ll be out there,” he said about the first event, the Victoria Day Weekend Spectacular May 21-23 at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario.

“We’re ready now,” said the champ. “But most important, we hope to have fun.”
