Easter Thunderball Washed Out
I was as usual going to write a report on the Easter Thunderball at Santa Pod but with so little action taking place due to the weather, I don't think there is enough to do it justice. Friday was sportsman qualifying and despite a gale blowing across the track, the car classes ran all day but the bikes could not run.

Saturday and Sunday were lost to strong winds and snow despite the valiant efforts of the track crew who never give up trying to get the track ready. Monday did not look much better with early snow showers, then it cleared up and we had a day's racing although it was bitterly cold.

We managed to run the Top Fuel cars 3 times, the last being in the dark at around 6:00 pm with a track temp of 5 and air of 4 (the cars ran over the eighth) with some surprisingly good runs and a lot of pedaling from the 4 top fuel cars. Andy Carter ran a .863 sixty foot for the highlight.

Hopefully in May for the first round of the FIA championship it will be much warmer.

Regards, Phil Cottingham
