Farewell, Dante Duce

Dante Duce passed away on February 15, 2008 in Las Vegas, NV. His brother Micheal van Dusen along with wife Karen, nephews Walter & Henry van Dusen and Mel W. sent him to the next race track... Dante helped so very much to bring drag racing to England. May he rest in peace. - John Hutchinson

In September 1963, the first American dragster and crew arrived in the UK. Dante Duce had challenged Sydney Allard to a transatlantic match race series and had persuaded Dean Moon to lend him his 600bhp Chevrolet Mooneyes dragster for the trip Financial assistance came from Mobil Oils and Revell Model Kits.

Spokane Raceway Park update

Thought I would update you on what is happening here। The County Commissioners voted this past Tuesday to bid on the Raceway Park when the sale occurs tomorrow। the plan is if another interested party who wants to keep the track operating bids on it, the county will drop out and let the private party have it। However, if a private party bids who wants to tear down the track, the county will stay in the bidding and attempt to buy it. A track management company from the Seattle area has gone on record as saying that if they are contracted to manage the track, they will transfer the NHRA Schucks Auto Parts Northwest Nationals to Spokane because of weather problems in the Seattle area. I will let you know what happens with the sale tomorrow. - Greg Harvey
