O'FALLON, MO (December 3, 2010) – As a sign of their continued strong and growing relationship the American Drag Racing League (ADRL) is proud to announce that Mickey Thompson Tires will remain as the official tire of the ADRL for the 2011 season.
Mickey Thompson will also continue to offer its comprehensive contingency program to five professional classes (Pro Extreme, Pro Nitrous, Extreme 10.5, Pro Extreme Motorcycle, Extreme Pro Stock) for the 2011 ADRL Tour.
"The ADRL is a great partner and very loyal and we truly enjoy working with everyone there," Mickey Thompson Motorsports Manager Carl Robinson said.

The ADRL and Mickey Thompson are also elated about the growth of their partnership over the last year and have even bigger plans in mind for 2011.

O'FALLON, MO (December 3, 2010) – Drag racing and environmental responsibility will have close ties in 2011, as the American Drag Racing League (ADRL) announced on Friday that its relationship with Safety-Kleen has been extended through the 2011 ADRL Tour.
As part of the innovative agreement, Safety-Kleen will appear at ADRL tracks during the 2011 racing schedule and will provide environmental services while working with the tracks and teams to implement a variety of green initiatives aimed at reducing drag racing's environmental impact.

GLENDORA, Calif. (Dec. 3, 2010) - Four-time Jerry Titus Award winner John Force headlines a list of six NHRA drivers named to the American Auto Racing Writers & Broadcasters Association All-America Teams.
Force, along with NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Top Fuel world champion Larry Dixon and Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Frank Manzo were named to the First Team; Two-time Jerry Titus Award winner Tony Schumacher and Funny Car driver Matt Hagan were named to the Second Team; and Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series world champion Von Smith made the honorable mention list.
NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Pro Stock Motorcycle world champion and Auto Club “Road to the Future” rookie of the year winner LE Tonglet made the Rising Star list, the first year AARWBA had created the award recognizing a fresh new name making his mark in the sport. Though the poll does not include motorcycle racers, Tonglet’s stellar performance in 2010 was enough to inspire a number of voters to write in his name.
The Jerry Titus Award, which is given in remembrance of the late racer/journalist, will be presented to the top vote-getter among the 21 First-Team drivers at the conclusion of the AARWBA All-America ceremonies at the Target Chip Ganassi Racing Facility in Indianapolis on Jan. 9.
Force, who is making his 15th appearance on the First Team, is joined by not only Dixon (making his third First-Team appearance) and Manzo (making his second First Team appearance) but also Open Wheel drivers Dario Franchitti and Will Power, Stock Car drivers Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch, Road Racing drivers Scott Pruett, Memo Rojas, David Brabham, and Simon Pagenaud, Short Track drivers Bryan Clauson and Levi Jones, Touring Series drivers Todd Bodine and Bobby Santos, Off-Road and Rally drivers Rob MacCachren, Ricky Johnson, Antonio L’Estage and Nathalie Richard, and At Large drivers Jörg Bergmeister and Patrick Long.
Drivers from eight categories are elected to the First Team, the Second Team, and all drivers receiving at least five percent of the vote (minimum five votes) earn honorable mention.
Force, driver of the Castrol GTX High-Mileage Ford Mustang, won six races in 11 final round appearances and picked up three No. 1 qualifiers en route to his 15th NHRA Full Throttle Series Funny Car world championship in 2010.
Dixon powered his Al-Anabi Racing dragster to 12 wins in 12 final round appearances and posted eight No. 1 qualifiers on the way to his third NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Top Fuel world championship in 2010.
Schumacher, driver of the U.S. Army dragster, earned his eighth All-America recognition with six wins, two runner-up finishes, 48 round wins and three No. 1 qualifying positions in NHRA Top Fuel competition.
Hagan, driver of the DieHard Dodge Charger Funny Car, earned his very first All-America recognition by posting three wins in five final round appearances, four No. 1 qualifiers, 37 round wins and finishing second in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing series Funny Car point standings.
Smith, driver of the Barwa/Al-Anabi ’68 Camaro Pro Mod entry, earned his third All-America mention after he drove to three wins in three final round appearances and earned the inaugural NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series world championship.

DOHA, QATAR (December 2, 2010) – Todd Tutterow's duties last year in the Arabian Drag Racing League only included tuning a car.
His first foray into driving in Qatar is quickly off to a fine start.
The 2009 Pro Extreme World Champion in the American Drag Racing League (ADRL) is the leader after two rounds of qualifying on Thursday during Round 1 of the eight-race series in the Arabian Drag Racing League at Qatar Race Club.
In a loaded field, Tutterow took an early lead in Pro Extreme, going 3.74, which comes on the heels of going as quick as 3.68 in what was a productive test session.
"I'm staying pretty busy, but things have been good," said Tutterow, who is also tuning the car of PX driver Bader Ali. "We've been doing a lot of testing and hopefully it works out (well)."
Due to weather and a crash in Pro Nitrous, only two qualifying sessions were completed on Thursday in all classes. Racers will get a third session on Friday before eliminations begin for Round 1.
Following Tutterow in Pro Extreme was Rickie Smith, who went 3.84 in his first official pass in a brand-new Bahrain Racing PX Camaro. KH Al-Thani was close behind with a 3.89.
In fourth was another driver making his debut, as former NHRA Top Fuel driver J.R. Todd went 3.91 in his first pass in a new '57 Chevy.
The rest of the field struggled to get down the track, which was also a similar theme in Pro Nitrous.
Shannon Jenkins was one of few who didn't shake the tires, as the Al-Anabi Racing driver shot to the top spot with an impressive 3.92.
Before leaving for Qatar, the legendary "Iceman" was excited about the opportunity to race in the Arabian Series.
"I can't wait for it," Jenkins said. "I can race all year."
In Pro Extreme Motorcycle, Terry Schweigert has the top after two sessions with a strong run of 4.19.
Rob Hunnicutt is in third with a 4.32.
Tutterow arrived in Qatar early to get some extra testing and it appears to have paid off in the early part of the season.
But Tutterow knows things won't be easy in a strong field that also includes Frankie Taylor, who went a remarkable 3.61 in a testing session earlier this week, Alex Hossler, Joshua Hernandez, Von Smith and Ellis Vial.
"The competition is going to be real good. It's pretty amazing, really," Tutterow said. "The competition is always exciting and it's great to be racing all these people.
"But I feel good. We've got as good of a chance as anyone."
Tutterow is also impressed by the reaction of the crowd and how the Arabian Series has grown in popularity over the past year.
"It's gained a lot from last year and it's getting real big for sure," Tutterow said. "I'd say it's more than three times as big as it was even at the end of last year."
With all the extra eyes on QRC, it should make for an even more intense atmosphere.
That shouldn't bother Smith, who is simply trying to get acclimated to driving a Pro Extreme car.
"If we can get through this first race, get some points and get some data, we'll be in good shape," Smith said. "It's a challenge, but we're up for it and hopefully we will do well."
Atlanta Dragway regulars gathered for the 2010 Atlanta Dragway Summit Series awards ceremony on Nov. 20, at The American Legion post 127. In perfect Southern form, attendees feasted first, while door prizes, donated by track sponsors, were raffled off.

"Look out dragsters, these door cars are bad!" Super Pro champion John Hobbs boasted about his '71 Vega wagon. After a thirty year drag racing career, Hobbs finally nabbed his first NHRA track championship—"He's been grinning ever since," noted his wife Helen. Hobbs consistently made rounds, but never took home a coveted winner's sticker; however, his persistence paid off with a 40 point lead in the Super Pro ranks. Hobbs gave special thanks to his late friend Michael Weekly: "I'm dedicating all this to him." Hobbs also thanked Paul Stringer and Tommy Payne.
Pro racer Bruce Wilson's success in his eight years of drag racing has made him a formidable foe at the starting line. Including this year, he has earned four track championships and two division championships. "Every week I've done good, and it seems every time I come home with something," Wilson commented, "I'm proud." As part of the Wilson Gang, he thanked his mom Sue and dad Jesse, his wife Cassie, and the whole team, as well as Marshall York. Wilson had a cushy 70 point lead in the Pro class, thanks to his consistent participation and a handful of wins.
"Coming first without winning a race means you had to fight really hard," said Mel Abney, topping the Sportsman category in a midnight blue '67 Camaro. Abney secured his championship with a 30 point lead, having placed second three times and third once out of the seven Summit E.T. series bracket races. "I want to recognize my fellow racers who are keeping the competition hot and heavy," Abney said, "I appreciate the track personnel, and the track sponsors, including VP Racing Fuels, Hayes Automotive, and Summit Racing Equipment, for their support in this economy." Abney gave special thanks to his "good buddy J.D. Burford, for his encouragement to stick with it."
Another member of the Wilson Gang, Brian Wilson, secured his first track championship in the Motorcycle class. After four years of racing motorcycles and two years "getting the bike straightened out," Wilson's season "came together at the last race" this past September, when he secured a 40 point lead and became Atlanta Dragway's 2010 King of the Track. His championship and Wally win made for an emotional triumph: "My sister, the first to win a Wally in '98, passed away in '01; now mine completes all the Wilson kids winning the Wally." Wilson thanked his family, especially his father Jesse who started the family tradition of bracket racing: "It keeps us together."
Stan Sinack fought hard for his Saturday Insanity 6.50 Index championship, winning four out of seven races for an 80 point lead. "I don't get cocky," Sinack said, "but I guess I'm always ready to race." Sinack thanked racing buddies Ed Nalley and Bill Boomhower: "they helped me out the whole time." The championship really capped off his year after winning NHRA Unleashed, and Sinack thanked Hedman Headers for their headers donation to the index winners. "I just hope we can get more people to come, and I look forward to running next year."
Shane Williams was on fire this year, maintaining the Saturday Insanity 7.50 Index lead for almost the full season; with 70 points ahead of the pack, Williams won his first track championship. Sticking with the same car he's had since he began drag racing in '01, Williams plans to rely on his '99 Mustang another ten years. "It's nice to come to Atlanta Dragway; it's a good track, and I have a lot of fun here." Williams thanked Danny and Suzanne Towe, and his girlfriend Holly and her daughter Abby "for putting up with me."
John Norris established his lead with the first Saturday Insanity of the 2010 season, in the Full-Bodied category. Norris thanked Jimmy Mason, Kenneth Mason, Wade Bryant Automotive, Mayberry Tire & Wheel, and Atlanta Dragway for his success. There's no question of Norris's dedication to racing, having participated also in the 7.50 Index class: "6.50, I'm coming for you!" Norris threatened. "I'm ready for next year."
Trey Butler has gotten things started the right way, winning the 8-9 Junior Dragster championship in his rookie year. Butler began the year by earning the #1 qualifier position during his first race. Butler thanked his dad James and mom Terri, his sister Mackenzie, and his nana Shirley and pawpaw Randy. "I had fun and really enjoyed this year," said Butler.
Austin Carden came out on top in the 10-12 Junior Dragster category, winning with a slim 10 point lead. After coming out #3 at Silver Dollar and #2 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Carden was relieved to be #1 at Atlanta Dragway, in his third year of racing. Carden thanked his dad Matt, mom Charlene, sister Alayna and Jeff Brown. Carden plans "to stay in Junior Dragster racing as long as possible."
For her final year in the Junior Dragster category, Jennifer "Lead-foot" Jarrett went out with a bang and her first track championship. Jarrett frustrated herself throughout the year with red-lights and break outs, but dominated the pack with a 30 point lead: "I'd like to thank my mom Judy, dad Johnny, Rusty Denton, Pop, and my granddad Pawpaw." Jarrett intends to move on to Super Comp next year, and dreams of one day racing a Top Fuel dragster. Fresh out of Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School, and armed with the knowledge to maintain her race vehicle, Jarrett has a promising future in drag racing.
Phil Owens was recognized for winning in the Super Pro category at the Division 2 finals, and placing second at the Bracket Championship in California.
Stacy Blanton won "Best Looking Helmet," while Super Pro champion John Hobbs humbly accepted "Ugliest Pit Vehicle." Joe Haddon won "Best Looking Pit Vehicle," and Bill Boomhower won "Best Looking Race Vehicle." Tommy Motes was given the "Sportsmanship Award," Jessie Wilson was nominated "Most Inspirational Driver," and Eric Smith was elected "Most Improved Driver." Mike Savage was named "Employee of the Year" for his unyielding service to the track.
Track manager Ray Wilkings promised a lot more racing for the 2011 season, and plenty of reinvented events to keep things interesting.

The casual dress event will take place from 7-10 p.m. in the Tower Club the night before the ADRL kicks off its 2011 racing season with the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) Dragpalooza VIII presented by Safety-Kleen, which takes place March 25-26 in Baytown, Texas. The awards gala will serve as a fitting end to what was a memorable and record-breaking 2010 ADRL season just as the 2011 campaign prepares to begin.
The new location and date also allows for more cost-effective and convenient location for the ADRL's talented competitors, teams and sponsors. Tickets are $30 and everyone must purchase a ticket to attend. Tables of 10 are also available for those who are interested.
ADRL World Championship rings and belts will be presented to Frankie Taylor (Pro Extreme), Burton Auxier (Pro Nitrous), Dan Millen (Extreme 10.5), Kim Morrell (Pro Extreme Motorcycle), John Montecalvo (Extreme Pro Stock) and Tyler Allen (Pro Junior Dragster), and the world's top eighth-mile drag racing series will also announce a host of other awards, including its 2010 Competitor of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Employee of the Year and Track of the Year.
Additionally, the ADRL will present the Jim Oddy Award, which is given annually to the ADRL racer who best demonstrates sportsmanship in conjunction with competitive drive throughout the 2010 season.
Finally, the 9th annual Walter W. Henry Memorial Award, the most prestigious award in doorslammer drag racing, will be presented to a person or group of individuals who has made an important and significant impact on the sport over an extended period of time.
Last year's winner was ADRL co-founder Tommy Lipar. Noted drag racing historian and ADRL television reporter Bret Kepner will serve as Master of Ceremonies for this year's Gala.
Other 2009 winners were Brian Gahm (Competitor of the Year), Jason Hamstra (Rookie of the Year), Dave Koch and Dave Koch Jr. (co-Employees of the Year), Royal Purple Raceway, formerly Houston Raceway Park, (Track of the Year) and Kenny Doak (Jim Oddy Award).

GLENDORA, Calif. (Dec. 1, 2010) – NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series officials announced today the 2011 NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing schedule, which includes affiliate events at Beech Bend Raceway Park and Maple Grove Raceway.
The Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion will be held June 16-18 at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Ky. and the Geezers at the Grove will be held July 2-3 at Maple Grove Raceway, in Reading, Pa.
In total, the 2011 schedule includes 11 events and will begin with the Arizona Fuel & Gas Nationals, March 5-6 at Speedworld Dragstrip in Wittmann, Ariz.
In addition to the affiliate events at Beech Bend Raceway Park and Maple Grove Raceway, the series will make stops at Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif., Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, Calif., Firebird Raceway in Boise, Idaho, The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, and Sacramento Raceway in Sacramento, Calif.
“We’re excited to be hosting the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage series at Auto Club Dragway at Auto Club Speedway again in 2011,” said Mike Yurick, vice president of operations at Auto Club Speedway. “Drag racing started here in Southern California and the event has become a key part of our schedule. A new addition to the 2011 schedule will be that the Group 1 classes will join Nostalgia Top Fuel Dragster and Nostalgia Funny Car in finishing their season and crown champions at the California Hot Rod Reunion presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California at Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif., while Group 2 classes will finish their seasons in July at the Nostalgia Reunion at Sacramento Raceway.

The NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series consists of two nitro categories: Nostalgia Top Fuel dragsters, Nostalgia Funny Cars, and two groups of additional classes. Group 1 includes Jr. Fuel, A-Fuel, AA/Gas, and 7.0 Pro, while Group 2 includes NE I, NE II, NE III, A/Gas, B/Gas, C/Gas, D/Gas and Hot Rod. Each class will run a combination of events in which they will score points toward the championship.
The NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series was developed in 2008 to help preserve NHRA's rich history and tradition while providing racing opportunities for those enthusiasts who enjoy nostalgia drag racing competition.
