MOSER ENGINEERING EXTENDS NHRA MOSER SHOOTOUT, ADDS SOUTHEAST DIVISION

GLENDORA, Calif. – NHRA announced today that Moser Engineering has extend its sponsorship of the NHRA Moser Engineering Sportsman Shootout through the 2016 racing season.  Additionally the special Lucas Oil sportsman program will expand to include the NHRA Southeast Division in 2014

“We owe a big part of our success to the sportsman racers and with so many of them asking for this unique program it shows me it is time to expand it,” said Rob Moser, Moser Engineering.   “So, it is with a sense of pride that we can announce the expansion of the Sportsman Shootout into Division 2 for 2014. The Division 3 & 4 racers have really been vocal in their support of our unique program and to say the Sportsman Shootout has been well received is an understatement. This program is just another way for us to recognize all of those that support Moser Engineering and it is our way of saying thank you.”

The program was introduced in 2012 in both the NHRA North Central and South Central Divisions for competitors in seven classes: Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Dragster and Top Sportsman.  Two racers from each of the seven classes qualify through a season points program plus two “wild card” entries from a drawing of online registrations on Moser’s website make up the 16-car Moser Sportsman Shootout fields that will offer a combined posted payout of $45,000 in 2014.

The 2013 South Central Division NHRA Moser Shootout will be held at the 2014 NHRA JEGS Cajun SPORTSnationals in March, the North Central NHRA Moser Shootout will be held at the JEGS Northern SPORTSnationals in September, and the Inaugural Southeast NHRA Moser Sportsman Shootout will be held at the season-ending NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Silver Dollar Raceway, Reynolds, Ga., in October.

“Moser Engineering has put together a sportsman racing program that will bring a lot of excitement to the Southeast Division,” said Rich Schaefer, NHRA Southeast Division director.  “We are honored that the Moser Sportsman Shootout has expanded to include the Southeast Division.”

To be eligible for the program, and earn points at in-division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events, racers must run the NHRA Moser Sportsman Shootout program decal.
